General Information for Membership
- File a written application for membership.
- Agree to purchase electric energy from ALECO.
- Agree to comply with and be bound by the Articles of Incorporation and By-laws of ALECO, the rules and regulations adopted by the Board, and requirements of the NEA.
- Pay the Membership Fee- Php50.00
- Accountability Clearance
- ALECO – January 2014, and beyond December 2022 onwards
- APEC- February 2014 to November 2022
- SINGLE - sole membership
- JOINT – two members (married couples, business partners, etc.)
- JURIDICAL – institutions such as the school, hospitals and LGU’s. (public or private)

DUTIES OF THE MEMBERS
BASIC OBLIGATIONS OF CONSUMERS (Article 5-Magna Carta)
- To vote.
- To hold elective office in ALECO.
- To be informed of Cooperative affairs.
- To examine the Cooperative’s book of accounts at any reasonable time during office hours.
- To receive electric connection upon compliance of the rules and regulations of the Cooperative.
DUTIES OF THE MEMBERS
- Paying electric bills on time. (grace period of 9 days)
- Attending cooperative meetings and participating in the discussion.
- Annual Meeting – held on the first Saturday of July
- Special Meeting – may be called by:
- resolution of the Board; or
- upon written request signed by any 3 Board members and by the President;
- request of 100 members or 5% of all members, whichever is lesser.
- QUORUM: 5% of all members or 100, whichever is lesser
- 2x attendance to AGMA & SGMA – qualification requirement from a candidacy to ALECO BOD.
- To take proper care of metering or other equipment that ALECO has installed in his premises.
- Reporting cases of electric pilferage to co-op management. (RA 7832)
- Allowing and helping secure right-of-way easements. (Anti – Obstruction Line)
BASIC OBLIGATIONS OF CONSUMERS (Article 5-Magna Carta)
- To observe the terms of his contract, including among other things, paying monthly electricity bills promptly and honestly.
- To allow the faithful and accurate recording of consumption to be reflected in the appropriate device.
- To allow the utility’s employees/ representatives entry/access to his premises for purposes of inspection, installation, reading, testing, removal, replacement or disposal of the utility’s apparatus/electric watt-hour meter.
- To inform ALECO of any theft or pilferage of electricity or any damage caused by any person to the electric meter and equipment.
- To cooperate with and support ALECO programs on the wise and efficient use of electricity.
- Failure to comply with any of the provisions of the Articles of Incorporation, By-laws and rules and regulations adopted by the Board, after such failure have been continued for at least 10 days from the date the written notice was given, it shall make him/her liable for expulsion.
